Accra, Oct. 29, GNA — The 37 Military Hospital on Thursday commissioned an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) Farm to help patients, staff and visitors access to cash at the Hospital’s premises.
Six out of a total of eight available ATM slots have been occupied by the Ghana Commercial Bank, Consolidated Bank of Ghana, Stanbic Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, FBNBank (First Bank of Nigeria) and United Bank for Africa.
Major Gen. Thomas Oppong-Peprah, Chief of the Army Staff, said he had always been a supporter of the ATM concept of banking since it was fast, replacing the confounding and tedious withdrawal and deposit procedures of traditional banking services.
He said the importance of the ATM further gained prominence during the peak periods of the COVID-19 pandemic when it became necessary to reduce contact among persons.
He said the site for the Farm would make it visible, easily accessible and approachable from the road and the Hospital Military Guard Point which is located a few metres away would also offer security for the location.
The Chief of the Army Staff said he was hopeful that the space allocated for the ATM Farm would be suitable for furthering services and meeting the business interest of everyone.
Brigadier Gen. Nii Adjah Obodai, Commander of the 37 Military Hospital, said even though economies all over the world, including Ghana, were doing all they could to move into the cashless system, others still existed who preferred handling or using physical cash for businesses.
