Tema, Sept 18, GNA – The voter exhibition exercise is yet record a high turnout Tema as a handful of voters showed up to verify their particulars on the Electoral roll on the first day
The Electoral Commission has rolled out the exercise across the country for potential voters whose names were captured in the newly compiled voters register to verify their details.
The EC has created a means where voters are able check and verify their names electronically using a short code
As Mante Din, St Albans Anglican School and Padmore exhibition centres, all in Community One, only exhibition officials were spotted at centres chatting away.
There was no activity at the Star Basic School in Community Five which has five centres as an official told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at one of the centres that out of the 992 names on his roll, only 10 persons had verified their details as at 0900 hours.
At the Rahamaniya Islamic School Syte Two, there were few people at the centre as was the Christ Apostolic Church in Community Four where 10 people had checked and verified their names by midday.
At the Holy Child Nursery in Sakumono, Tema West, where long queues were witnessed during the registration exercise at all four polling station, over 100 persons had showed up at the exhibition centres.
Mr Jessey Aborik, an Exhibition Officer, told the GNA his suspicion was that a lot more people were resorting to the digital means to check and verify their names on the register.
Rebecca Poku Akubia, Exhibition officer at the Bethel Nursery School, said only 20 people had come to verify their details in the register.
