MTN presents surgical nose masks to two health facilities

Sunyani, Sept. 12, GNA – The MTN Ghana has presented 3,000 pieces of surgical nose masks to the Sunyani Regional Hospital to help protect health workers from contracting the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the course of their duties.

The telecommunication Company also presented 2,500 pieces of the protective gears to the Kwatire Polyclinic in the Sunyani West Municipality.

According to Mr Akwasi Kwarteng, MTN’s Sales Manager for the Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regions, the donations forms part of the Company’s efforts to partner government to stop the spread of the viral disease in the country.

As a national health emergency, he assured the Company’s commitment to supporting the government to stem the spread of the disease.

He said so far, MTN had distributed 15,000 pieces of nose masks to the regional hospital and 88,500 pieces to 30 health facilities nationwide.

He said MTN had launched a campaign dubbed “Wear it for Me” to keep reminding the general public on behavioural change and the need for them to wear nose mask and observe social distancing as well.

Dr Kwasi Cardinal Newton, the Medical Director, Sunyani Regional Hospital expressed gratitude to MTN for the support, saying the masks would help improve on the health and safety of frontline health workers managing the COVID-19 cases.

He urged the public to adhere to health and safety and preventive protocols to protect themselves and people around them.

Dr Daniel Gunguni Mantenso, the Acting Medical Superintendent at the Kwetire Polyclinic, described the presentation as timely because the facility was in dire need of the masks for health workers.

Mr Ernest Mamphey, MTN’s Mobile Money Manager, Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regions reminded the Company’s mobile money customers to be mindful of activities of fraudsters to keep their Momo Pin codes in secret.

He said the company was collaborating with the Police to clamp down on the activities of fraudsters and assured MTN Momo subscribers of absolute financial security.
