Hohoe Junior High Schools receive government’s hot meal policy

Hohoe (V/R), Aug. 25, GNA – Students and teachers of Junior High School (JHS) in the Hohoe Municipality have received hot meal intervention as part of government’s directive to contain the COVID-19 pandemic.

A GNA visit to some schools saw the beneficiaries being treated to Jollof rice and boiled eggs with a sachet water each to push down the food.

Mr Divine Woenenyo Agbley, Headmaster of the Momo Montessori Academy, said although meals were provided for students and teachers, school administrators were left out.

Master Daniel Medowokpor, Senior Prefect of the School said the provision of the hot meal was a good idea since it would help students to concentrate on their studies.

He said the meal would also enable students to concentrate in class, stay in school throughout the period without going to look for food and put themselves in danger of contracting the disease.

A total of 60 students and 13 teachers at the Hohoe Presby Junior High School (JHS) benefitted from the hot meal intervention, which arrived at 0900 hours, while 100 students and staff of the Municipal Assembly Experimental JHS also benefitted.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in his 15th address on measures to contain COVID-19 in the country, announced a one hot meal daily intervention for pupils and staff in the wake of the pandemic ahead of preparations for this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE)
