President in self-isolation after being exposed to COVID-19 positive associate

Accra, July 4, GNA – President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is, from today, July 4, beginning a 14-day precautionary self-isolation measure following his exposure to a COVID-19 positive person in his close circle.

A statement signed by Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah on Saturday night, however, stated: “The President, as of today, has tested negative for COVID-19.

“The President has elected to do so after at least one person within his close circle tested positive for COVID-19 today. “

The self-isolation measure, which was on the advice of doctors, was, therefore, out of the abundance of caution, it explained.

Meanwhile, the statement said, the President would during the period, be working from the Presidential Villa in the Jubilee House.

Ghana, Saturday, reported its highest daily confirmed cases yet, with 758 cases, bringing the total to 19,388.

There are, however, 14,330 recoveries, and 117 deaths.

The active cases are, therefore, 4941.

The President, with the Ghana Health Service, has persistently advised citizens to strictly comply with the anti COVID-19 hygiene and social distancing protocols to contain the spread of the virus.
