Zoomlion to disinfect 1,180 basic schools and other facilities in W/R

Sekondi, June 11, GNA – In a bid to control and prevent the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic on school campuses, Waste Management giant Zoomlion, in collaboration with the Western Regional Coordinating Council (WRCC) will undertake a mass disinfection and fumigation exercise in the region.

The exercise would benefit 13 military facilities, 11 tertiary institutions and 1,180 basic schools both private and public.

Mr Abdulai Abdallah, Western Regional Manager of Zoomlion in an address at the launch hinted that his outfit was using 60 sprayers and 50 motorised and knapsack spraying machines with respect to the spraying of the military facilities with about 900 sprayers for the spraying of the tertiary institutions and the basic schools.

He added that the company would bring onboard other partners to assist in the execution of the two-week exercise.

Mr. Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, Western Regional Minister bemoaned that the alarming rate of COVID-19 cases in the region was a source of worry which all must be involved, “from the household to the church, to the mosque, to the market and to all enterprises in the fight”.

He hinted that the Regional COVID-19 Response Team was spending sleepless nights to stem the spread of the virus in the region as protocols were put in place, while major stakeholders were tasked to enforce the protocols.

He expressed the hope that the company would do a good job and called on the institutions and organizations to support it to succeed.
