Kumasi, June 11, GNA – Zoomlion Company Limited, has begun the fumigation and disinfection of military installations in Kumasi.
The two-day exercise would involve the disinfection of all military barracks, offices, depots and all other military facilities.
Mr Simon Osei Mensah, Ashanti Regional Minister, in an address on his behalf to officially launch the exercise at the Fourth Battalion of Infantry (4BN) in Kumasi, praised the Ghana Armed Forces for their role in the fight against the spread of the virus.
He also commended Zoomlion for providing leadership in an effort to eradicate the virus from the environment to ensure the safety of all.
Mr Osei Mensah said the exercise would help protect the military officers and their families from catching and spreading the virus in their communities.
Brigadier-General Joseph Aduko Aphour, Officer Commanding the Central Command, said the frontline role of the military had exposed officers and their accoutrements to possible contamination.
The nationwide fumigation and disinfection of all military installations was therefore, in the right direction to assure the officers of a congenial environment in their offices, barracks and other operational areas.
