Tamale, June 3, GNA – Royal Ladies for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), a women’s wing of the Party in the Northern Region on Tuesday presented quantities of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to market women in the Tamale Central Market.
The items included face masks and hand sanitizers to help resource the market women in their response against the spread of the COVID-19, following their exposure in the routine activities they engage in at the market place.
Madam Musah Ajara, President of the group, addressing the market women together with other executive members, admonished the market women to keep themselves safe and make good use of the PPE, especially when interacting with their customers in the market.
She urged them to adhere to the COVID-19 safety protocols, saying as traders, they served as essential service providers and were at high risk of contracting the virus in their activities.
She said the EC’s decision to make the Ghana Passport and national identification card (Ghana Card) as the legal requirements for people’s registration into the new biometric voters register would negatively affect most of the citizens, especially those in the rural communities, who do not have these documents as required.
Hajia Zeinab Nindoo, one of the beneficiaries, expressed gratitude to the group for the gesture and urged other benevolent organisations and groups to emulate the gesture.
The event was attended by some dignitaries and national executives of the NDC party including Mr Johnson Aseidu Nketiah, the General Secretary for the NDC, and Mr Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, Director of Elections for the NDC among others.
