Salaga S/R, June 11, GNA – Mr Kwesi Amoako-Atta, the Minister for Roads and Highways on Wednesday inspected two ongoing road projects in the Northern and Savannah Regions.
The two road projects are the Upgrading of the Salaga-Bimbilla stretch of about 71 kilometers and the Salaga-Ekumdipe-Kpandai which is a 61.2 km stretch.
The Minister was accompanied by officials of the Ministry, the Ghana Highway Authority, and some staff of the Savannah and Northern Regional Coordinating Councils to inspect the two projects as part of a six-day working visit to the Northern part of the country.
In August 2019, the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo cut the sod for the construction of the two roads.
The Salaga-Bimbilla and the Salaga-Ekumdipe-Kpandai road are about 45 percent and 36.18 percent complete respectively. The projects are expected to be completed in 2023 and 2021.
Briefing journalists after the inspection of the two road projects, the Minister expressed satisfaction at the progress and quality of work done so far, adding that the two projects when completed would increase economic activities and improve on road safety.
He said the government was committed to making sure it provided good roads network across the country to boost socio-economic activities, and urged the citizenry to rally behind government to fulfill its mandate in the provision of infrastructure to aid speedy development in the country.
He, therefore, charged the contractors on-site to speed up work to meet the deadlines.
Mr Osman Inusah, an official of New Modern World Company Limited, the construction firm working on the roads gave assurance to ensure that the project was completed within schedule.
