NPP Primaries; Two MPs in Bono region lost their bid to contest Election 2020

Sunyani, June 20, GNA – Two Members of Parliament (MPs) in the Bono Region lost their bid to contest Election 2020 in the just ended New Patriotic Party (NPP) primaries.

They were Dr Kwabena Twum Nuamah, the MP for Berekum East, and Mr William Kwasi Sabi, the MP for Dormaa East who lost to Mr Nelson Kyeremeh, and Mr Paul Twum Barima respectively.

Mr Kwasi Asomah-Cheremeh, incumbent MP for Sunyani East retained his seat to contest and represent his constituents for the fourth time, while Mr Yaw Mahama Afful was also given another chance to contest for the Jaman South constituency seat.

Incumbent MP for Tain Constituency, Mr Gabriel Osei, secured his seat, while Professor George Gyan-Baffour, incumbent MP for Wenchi Constituency and Minister of Planning, narrowly escaped defeat.

The primaries, organised by the Electoral Commission, ended successfully at all the various polling stations in the Region and voting in general was peacefully amidst security presence.
