MP supports final year students with PPE

Sefwi- Waiwso (W/N), June 24, GNA – Mr Alex Djonoboah Tetteh, the Member of Parliament for Sefwi-Akontombra Constituency and Deputy Western North Regional Minister, has presented quantities of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the Akontombra Education Directorate to be distributed to final year students in the District.

The items included, four Veronica buckets with washing bowls, 15,000 pieces of nose masks and quantities of liquid soap.

This, according to the MP, was to help protect students and teachers as schools resumed for all final year students across the country.

The beneficiary institutions are the Akontombra Senior High school and Nsawora Senior High school.

The Deputy Minister presenting the items, said this was to augment government’s efforts in protecting final year students as they prepared to write their final exams.

Mr Tetteh told the students, “This is not the time to roam about, but rather stay at school and observe all accepted protocols”.

He also urged teachers in the two schools to instill discipline and enforce all accepted protocols aimed at fighting Covid -19 Pandemic.

Mr Thomas Coffie, Akontombra District Director of Education, who received the items on behalf of the Education Directorate, thanked the Member of Parliament for the kind gesture and promised to use them for the intended purpose.

He called on parents and guardians not to visit their wards during this period, as the students would be well catered for.

He indicated that the District Education Directorate had instructed heads of second cycle schools to put in place adequate measures to contain the spread of COVID-19.

The District Director also commended the government since the District Education Directorate had taken delivery of PPE supplied through the Ministry of Education.
