Juaben Municipal assembly distributes face masks to people

Juaben(Ash),June 02, GNA-The Juaben Municipal Assembly has embarked on an exercise to freely distribute nose masks to the people in the area.

The objective is to ensure that everybody in the Municipality has a protective item to safeguard him or herself against the coronavirus.

Mr Kwadwo Ansah-Sem, Municipal Chief Executive, speaking at a ceremony to distribute some of the masks at the Juaben market, said it would also strengthen efforts at preventing the outbreak of the virus in the Municipality.

The Juaben Municipality has not yet recorded any confirmed case of the coronavirus and the free distribution of the nose masks was to motivate residents and community members to continue to adhere to all the preventive protocols to stay safe.

Mr Ansah-Sem said it was important to show appreciation to the people for abiding by the various restrictive protocols and strengthen their commitment in protecting themselves against the disease.

“This donation and mass distribution of over 3,000 facemasks to the people is also a congratulatory sign to our people for keeping themselves safe and not contracting the disease so far.

“There is the need for us to ensure that there is continuity and sustainability in preventing ourselves from the spread of the disease and this is why we are embarking on this crucial exercise”, he added.

Reverend Peter Antwi-Bosiako, Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD) said the donations were being targeted at the market women, traders and persons walking on the streets without face or nose masks.

He urged the beneficiaries to always wear them in order to stay safe.

Rev Antwi-Boasiako, also urged them to observe all the other preventive and restrictive protocols to prevent themselves from catching and spreading the virus in their communities.

Madam Dora Appiah, Queen of the Juaben main market, commended the Assembly for the gesture and urged her colleagues and all traders in the municipality to contribute their quota by observing all the government directives on the disease to help containing its continuous spread in the country.
