Intensify efforts to improve the lot of all, churches urged

Accra June 24, GNA – Reverend Gideon Agyeman Osei has said the onset of the coronavirus pandemic means the church has to do more to enhance its relevance in bringing transformation to individuals and the entire society.

He said the success and growth of all societies can be attained if its religious institutions complement the efforts of governments in ensuring that appropriate policies are engendered and developed to benefit the underprivileged and all in the society.

Reverend Osei, Head Pastor of the Kingdom Mission Network International, said the role of the church is also to provide meanings to such policies by encouraging their members to take advantage of them or actually supporting some communities with vital resources needed to enhance their development.

He said we should not hesitate to highlight policies we deem to be detrimental to our development.

And neither should we, Reverend Osei said, hesitate to call to order individuals who are committing acts which could hinder our development efforts.

He said the onset of the coronavirus has also hindered our ‘Ghetto Agenda’ where we as a church head out to feed and interact with the youth in various communities and highlight the dangers of drug abuse and other social vices.

Reverend Osei said Kingdom Mission Network International has regularly gone out to needy groups and communities to support them with various items; whiles others are given vocational training to gain meaningful employment.

Indeed in some instances, he said, the social welfare authorities alone cannot do the job, hence the need for all to aid in that regard.
