Gifty Twum-Ampofo retained as NPP Parliamentary candidate

Kukurantumi (E/R), June 21, GNA – The Incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for the Abuakwa North Constituency, Ms Gifty Twum-Ampofo polled 150 votes to win the New Patriotic Party (NPP) primaries in her constituency.

The other three contenders, Lawyer Kay Amoah Junior obtained 116 votes, while Kofi Obeng-Mensah had 112 votes and Nana Serwah Acheampong had 35 votes.

A total of 417 delegates were expected to cast their ballots but at the close of polls the total vote cast was 415.

The total valid votes cast was 413 and two votes were rejected.

Ms Twum-Ampofo who could not hold her joy after being declared the winner thanked her other three contenders for giving her a good competition.

She thanked each and every one who contributed to make the victory a reality and called for unity and togetherness from every party member as they prepare for the 2020 general elections.

All the three contenders in their speech pledged to support the winning candidate to win convincingly in the December general elections so that NPP can retain the seat.
