Ghana’s COVID-19 case counts and fatalities surges

Accra, June 17, GNA – Ghana’s Covid-19 count has recorded 397 more bringing the total to 12,590 confirmed cases.

Data on the Ghana Health Service website has shown that the fatalities have also gone up from 58 to 66.

Currently, there are 13 severe cases, with four in critical conditions with none on ventilators.

The latest update dated June 15, have active cases standing at 8,114 while the 4,410 persons have recovered from the virus.

Since the outbreak, the country has so far conducted a total of 258,010 tests through routine surveillance and contact tracing with a positivity rate of 4.88.

The current information also shows that out of the eight deaths as many as six were recorded from the Ashanti Region with two not having co-morbidity diseases.

It also showed that five of the persons who succumbed to the virus were between the ages of 33 to 39.
