Ghana Card issuance progresses in Ashaiman

Accra, June 11, GNA – The National Identification Authority’s exercise to issue Ghana Cards to its applicants nationwide is progressing steadily in Ashaiman to enable them make use of the cards when needed.

The nationwide exercise by the Authority commenced on Wednesday and is expected to issue 3,875,441 printed Ghana Cards to applicants in 5,635 registration centres in all 16 Regions concurrently for the next eight days.

At the end of the exercise about 11,062,850 Ghanaians would possess the Ghana Cards in good time to be used for vouching for their relatives or other Ghanaians who wish to register during the nationwide Voter Registration exercise and other mandatory purposes.

Mr Andrew Nartey, an official at the Agape Registration Centre, Ashaiman-Lebanon told the Ghana News Agency that the patronage was quite slow but was hopeful that as the information travelled a lot more persons in the community would come out for their cards.

He said about five persons had come to check their names and three had received their cards; adding that others had to wait a while for their cards because they had to go through quite a number of cards.

COVID-19 health preventive protocols was observed at all the centres visited by the GNA team.
