Gender Minister re-elected as Parliamentary Candidate for Agona West

Swedru, June 21, GNA – Mrs Cynthia Mamle Morrison, the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) has won the bid to contest for the Agona West New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the December 7, polls.

The MP who is also the Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, polled 584 votes to beat two other contestants, Mr Samuel Kweku Obodai, former MP for Agona West who obtained 171 votes and Mr Otoo Yawson, an Engineer who had 23 votes.

In all 785 delegates from 32 polling centers were expected to cast their ballots.

The election was supervised by Mr Anobil Forson, Agona West Municipal Director of the Electoral Commission and other officials.

Mrs Cynthia Morrison later thanked the delegates for giving her another opportunity to contest the election and called for unity to retain the seat.

Present among the dignitaries were Mrs Mavis Hawa Koomson, Minister of state in charge of Special Initiative and Development at the Office of the President, Mr Robert Kutin Jnr, Central Regional Chairman of the NPP and others.
