Dambai College of Education Students return to school

Dambai (O/R) June 22, GNA – Students of Dambai College of Education in the Krachi East Municipality of the Oti Region, have returned after the easing of restrictions of schools for final year students to prepare for their examinations.

A visit by the Ghana News Agency to the College on Monday sighted banners with inscriptions “NO MASK, NO ENTRY” posted on the main gate.

Health workers were seen at the entrance of the College screening students as well as lecturers and non-teaching staff, who were returning from their various destinations were busy at work.

Students arriving and those already in the School were seen adhering to wearing of face masks while many washed their hands under running water from the Veronica buckets placed at vantage points on campus, especially the main entrance.

Mr Timothy Koki, Coronavirus Ambassador of the College said, they have been supported with the Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) by the Krachi East Assembly and Municipal Directorate of Education to help fight this pandemic.

He said student’s COVID-19 Ambassadors were selected from the final year students to lead the crusade of creating awareness on safety protocols of the pandemic and strict observance of grounds rules.

He said the teaching staff were taken through the drills on proper means of wearing the facial masks, washing of hands under running water with soap and sanitising of hands with Food and Drug Authority prescribed alcohol-based hand sanitizers before getting to the lecture halls and other facilities on campus.

Mr Koki said the Ambassadorial teams are responsible for documenting the travel history of students after which a bottle of hand sanitizer and two reusable facial masks are given free of charge.

He said each dormitory has been reduced to eight students and the classroom intake also reduced to 25.

Miss Isabella Tekpor and Esther Anokye from Central Region Twifo Praso level 300 final year students of the College told the GNA that they were very excited about returning to school after staying at home doing nothing.
