Ho, June 12, GNA – Operation Smile Ghana, a not-for-profit health organisation into surgical repair of cleft lip and palate, has donated some medical consumables worth GH¢33,280.00 to the Ho Teaching Hospital (HTH).

The items are; accutor-Plus patient monitor, safety goggles, surgical gowns, facial masks, face shields N95 and examination gloves.

Dr Opoku-Ware Ampomah, Medical Director and the Executive Board Member of the Organization, said the donation was to re-channel resources for undertaking or correcting child cleft cases to fight COVID-19.

He believed the gesture would deepen the cordial and corporate relationship between the two institutions saying, “a friend in need is a friend indeed”.

Dr Ampomah said the Organization in collaboration with its international partners was exploring avenues to procure some ventilators and other vital equipment for the Hospital.

Mr George Tetteh, Director of Administration of HTH, who received the items thanked the Organization for the generosity, promising to use the items for the purpose of the donation.

He entreated other benevolent corporate institutions, non-governmental entities and philanthropists, to emulate the example of Operation Smile Ghana and their International partners, adding “for personal protective equipment no number is enough”.
