COVID-19: Lands Ministry receives medical supplies from two mining firms

Accra, June 19, GNA – The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has received 2,500 Disposable Protective Masks from Soon Mining Company Limited, a Chinese mining firm.

Additionally, AngloGold Ashanti Ghana also presented 95 pieces of alcohol-based hand sanitizers to the Ministry to complement its efforts to fight against the contagion.

Mr Oscard Huang, the Managing Director of Soon Mining Company, said the company was poised to support the Ministry to fight the COVID-19 pandemic at all levels due to the important role of the Ministry in the national agenda.

He said the company would continue to do more to support the global fight against the pandemic.

Mr Kwaku Asoma-Cheremeh, the sector Minister, who received the items on behalf of the Ministry, thanked Soon Mining and Anglogold Ashanti for the kind gesture and urged other mining companies to emulate the two mining firms to help fight the pandemic.

He said the Ministry would distribute them to its staff and visitors who visit the Ministry, especially those not wearing facemasks.
