Accra, June 18, GNA – Ghana has confirmed 339 new COVID-19 infections, bringing its caseload to 12, 929.
The number of recoveries, since the last update by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) has also climbed to 4,468 from 4,410.
The death toll, however, remains 66, with active cases standing at 8,395.
Dr. Badu Sarkodie, the Director of Public Health at the GHS, announced this at the bi-weekly press briefing of the Ministry of Information in Accra.
He said 14 cases of the respiratory illness were severe and that four patients were currently on ventilators.
The 339 new cases were reported by nine regions – Greater Accra, 154, Western, 58, Ashanti, 41, Central, 38, Eastern, 15, Volta, 13, Bono East, 9, Northern, 9, and Savannah, 2.
From the latest update, the Greater Accra continue to remain the hotspot of the disease, accounting for almost 60 per cent of the case count, with its 7,573 infections.
It is followed by Ashanti, with a total of 2,403 cases. Western Region has now crossed the 1,000 mark, its case tally is 1,051.
