COVID-19: Ghana’s case count exceeds 11,000

Accra, June 13, GNA – Ghana’s confirmed COVID-19 cases have increased to 11,118 after it confirmed 262 new infections over the past 24 hours.

The latest update on the Ghana Health Service’s website indicates that the new infections were recorded in five regions of the country.

They are the Greater Accra Region – 97; Ashanti Region – 84; Central Region – 45; Western Region – 35, and the Oti Region – one case.

A total of 58 new recoveries were confirmed within the same period, increasing the country’s total recoveries to 3,979 from the 3,921 reported in the early hours of Friday.

The death toll remains 48, bringing the country’s active case count to 7,091.

The Greater Accra Region remains the hotspot of the virus in the country, accounting for more than 60 per cent of the total case count and with a case tally of 6,888.

The Ashanti Region follows with a case count of 1,989, the Western and Central regions also saw increases in cases, with their tallies now at 909 and 584 respectively.

The other regional tallies are Volta Region – 212, Eastern Region – 204, Upper East Region – 128, Western North Region – 79, Oti Region – 48 and Northern Region – 37.

The rest are Upper West Region – 22, Bono East Region – 13, North East Region – two, Savannah Region – One, Bono Region – One, and Ahafo Region – one.
