Accra, June 24, GNA – ActionPlus Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organisation, has donated Personal Protective Equipment to some selected second cycle schools in Greater Accra, Eastern and Volta regions to help fight the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The items included ‘Veronica’ buckets, hand sanitizers, liquid soap, tissue papers and nose masks, among others.
A statement issued by Madam Hadzor Grace Afi, the Public Relations Officer, ActionPlus Foundation, and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra, said the gesture was also to welcome the students back to school to prepare adequately for academic activities after a long stay home due to the pandemic.
President Akufo-Addo in his 21st address to the nation on Sunday directed all final year Senior High School students and second year Gold Track students to go back to school to continue with academic activities effective Monday, June 22.
The final year students would be in school for a total of six weeks before sitting for the West Africa Senior Secondary Certificatr Examinations over a period of two weeks.
The statement quoted Apostle Fred Osei Annin, the Founder and Leader, ActionPlus Foundation who called on other NGOs to support government’s investment in consolidating the gains towards the fight against COVID-19.
Apostle Annin expressed confidence that the country would defeat the pandemic in the shortest possible time and restore activities to normalcy if the citizenry continue to strictly adhere to the health protocols outlined by World Health Organization and the Ghana Health Service.
He commended government for swiftly mobilising resources to building a new Disease Infectious Centre to conduct medical research in many health related areas.
“As we adhere to the health protocols, it was necessary to be reminded that HIV/AIDS is real and must also stay safe and be protected always”.
Lieutenant Colonel Osman Zuneidu, the Headmaster, Armed Forces Senior High and Technical School, who received the items on behalf of the school, expressed his profound gratitude to the Foundation for the support at this very crucial time.
Lt Col Zuneidu said the items were timely in aiding teaching and learning and asked for more support from other corporate institution to contain the spread of the virus.
The Foundation is a leader in health advocacy and has over the years has led the campaign and fight against HIV/AIDS across the globe.
