Waiwso MCE cuts sod for construction of six-unit classroom block

Sefwi-Aboduam (WN/R), May 27, GNA – Mr Lious Owusu-Agyapong, the Municipal Chief Executive for Sefwi- Waiwso Municipal assembly has cut the sod for the construction of a six-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities for the Aboduam R/C primary school.

The new classroom block according to the MCE is expected to be completed within six months to improve education in the community.

Mr Owusu -Agyapong in cutting the sod said the construction of the school block was in fulfillment of an appeal made by the chief and people of the community to the Member of Parliament for Sefwi- Waiwso, Dr Kwaku Afriyie when he went on a campaign tour to the community before the 2016 elections.

He said the construction of the school was funded from the Waiwso Constituency share of the one million dollars per constituency initiative.

Mr Owusu-Agyapong was optimistic the project would be completed within the six months since funds for the project were readily available.

The MCE said an earlier request by the community for a community water project has been completed and would soon be handed over to them.

He appealed Ghanaians to rally behind the NPP government because it was the only political party that was committed to education, hence the free senior high school policy which has reduced the burden on parents.

Mr Kingsley Commey, Chief Executive Officer for Kingscom construction limited, the construction firm executing the project promised to complete the project on time and called for the community to give them the needed assistance and pledged to recruit some of the workers from the community

Nana Yaw Ofori, Abakomahene, who represented the chief of the area, commended the government and the Municipality Assembly for giving them their share of the national cake.

He assured the contractor of their support and asked him to work according to the plan.
