Togbe Afede supports Muslims ahead of Eid Ul-Fitr celebration

Ho, May 22, GNA – Togbe Afede XIV, Agbogbomefia of Asogli on Friday presented 20 bags of rice and five thousand Ghana cedis to the Zongo Community in Ho.

The presentation is towards the celebration of this year’s Eid Ul-Fitr to mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

Togbe Adzimah IV, Atamfia of Asogli who led a delegation to present the items on behalf of Togbe Afede, said the gesture was to encourage Muslims to continue to pray for the Asogli State and the country.

He asked them to go by the safety protocols in containing the Coronavirus disease and keep their surroundings clean during and after the celebration.

Sarki Yushau Turawah, Ho Zongo Chief who received the items, thanked Togbe Afede and the Asogli State for the continued support.

He said they were making sacrifices and prayers to Allah for an end to the Coronavirus pandemic and for a peaceful nation.

Sarki Turawah said though they would not be able to congregate in the open for Eid prayers to celebrate Eid Ul-Fitr, the day would be marked privately at home.

He said marking the event at home would promote family reunion, which used to be the case decades ago during such celebrations.

The Zongo Chief said personal and environmental cleanliness were key messages during the fasting period and urged Muslims to continue to wash their hands regularly with soap under running water, wear nosemasks and observe social distancing.

“I have observed that the Zongo is very clean this fasting period and I pray we continue to keep it clean for our safety,” he stated.

The Ghana News Agency observed that the Community is littered with Tippy-Taps with some homes having Veronica buckets for handwashing.

A good number of people spotted around the Mosque were also seen in nosemasks.
