Kwahu Twenedurase (E/R), May 10, GNA- Natives of Kwahu Twenedurase in the United State of America (USA) have donated food items valued at Gh¢30,000.00 to the Twenerase community to help support especially the aged during this era of COVID-19.
The items donated include 340 bags of five kilogrammes of rice, 30 boxes of bottled cooking oil and 30 boxes of sardine tinned fish.
Nana Okufo Dateh II, the Twenedurase Wirempenhene who handed the items to the community through the Unit Committee Chairman and the Assembly Member of the area, said the donation formed part of the Association’s social responsibility in giving back to society and was to also complement the government’s efforts in ensuring that the people, especially the aged in society are protected from the novel corona virus pandemic.
He said the sharing of the items would be extended to Akoko Benum Nsuo, a village under the Kwahu Twenedurase jurisdiction to help provide food for the inhabitants in the area.
He said the gesture was the first time that the community was receiving support since the outbreak of the corona virus pandemic.
Nana Dateh II assured of the Association’s continuous support in improving the living standard of the community members by ensuring development of the community.
Receiving the items on behalf of the community, Mr Kwesi Acheampong, the Unit Committee Chairman, lauded the Association for the kind gesture and called on other natives and philanthropists to also come and support the community.
He promised to ensure that each and every household would receive their fair share of the donation.
Meanwhile, Nana Baamoah Adwoa Wiredu I, the Queenmother of Kwahu Twenedurase also donated 100 pieces of mouth and nose masks to traders and other community members at Twenedurase.
