Kumasi, May 12, GNA – MTN Ghana has donated assorted food items to the Ashanti Regional Chief Imam, Sheikh Abdul-Moumin Harun at a brief ceremony in Kumasi.
The donation which has become an annual ritual was to support the Muslim community as they observe the month-long Ramadan fasting.
The items worth GH¢ 5,000.00 included bags of rice, boxes of cooking oil, assorted soft drinks, packs of bottled mineral water, a ram, and GH¢ 300.00 worth of airtime.
Mr. Simon Amo, General Manager, Northern Ghana who presented the items on behalf of MTN Ghana, said the donation was an annual gesture to support Muslims during the Ramadan period.
He said MTN believed in creating a strong relationship with all stakeholders and contributing to the growth of diverse religious groups in the country.
“As an African company, we believe first in the African traditional religion and all forms of religions that we live and work with”, he observed.
He said it was difficult to identify the religion of the company’s huge subscriber base hence it was their responsibility to celebrate with all religions to show appreciation for their loyalty to the company over the years.
He wished all Muslims a special Ramadan and prayed for God to grant their heart desires by the time they complete the one-month fasting.
Mr. Amo further reminded them of the need to observe all the safety protocols of the dreaded COVID-19 to help stop the alarming rate of infections.
Sheikh Harun applauded the company for its continuous support even in the face of the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic which is adversely affecting many business entities across the world.
