MP supports Coronavirus fight in Kassena Nankana West

Paga (U/E), May 12, GNA – Mr Rudolph N. Amenga-Etego, the Member of Parliament for Chaina- Paga, has donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) worth GH¢27,000.00 from the MP’s share of the assembly’s commond fund to the Chaina-Paga Health Directorate, in the Kassena Nankana West District, Upper East Region, to support the fight against the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic.

The items included surgical nose masks, reusable cloth nose masks, hand gloves, protective clothing and 20 veronica buckets with stands, 20 veronica buckets without stands and washing bowls.

The rest are 500 bottles of alcohol-based hand sanitizer, Tissue paper and carbolic soap.

In an Interview with the Ghana News Agency after the presentation, Mr Amenga-Etego described the pandemic as a world crisis that required the support of all to mitigate its impact on citizens and the economy.

“I know COVID-19 is a public health crisis which may affect my constituents and I don’t pray we record any case of it but we have to take preventive measures to ensure that it does not affect our people”.

“The pandemic is of great concern to the country and we are also concerned for our district and people because we share a common border with Burkina Faso, so whatever we contribute will help the frontline workers to provide good healthcare delivery”, he added.

He also gave an amount of GH¢8,000 to support the facility to embark on public education on the preventive measures of the disease.

He urged health works to be more careful in their field of work to avoid getting infected by the virus and possibly spreading it.

Mr Hypolite Yeleduor, the District Director of Health for the Kassena-Nankana West, received the items and thanked Mr Amenga-Etego for the support.

He said the items would help the health directorate in its efforts to contain the spread of the virus and pledged to make judicious use of them.

He appealed to benevolent organizations and philanthropist to join the fight by donating more PPE to the directorate.
