Hayil Ladies Ministry donates to UER hospital

Bolgatanga, May 11, GNA – The Hayil Ladies Ministry, the Women’s Wing of the Fountain Gate Chapel in Bolgatanga has presented some items to the Paediatric and Maternity Departments of the Upper East Regional hospital in Bolgatanga, as part of activities to mark Mother’s Day.

The items included a refrigerator for the Paediatric Department, two hospital screens, boxes of hand gloves, hand sanitizer stand, alcohol-based hand sanitizers and cartons of soft drinks.

The Ladies Ministry had over the years presented bed sheets, curtains, medical and non-medical consumables to the Paediatric Department to assist in the health care of sick children in the Department.

Mrs Juliana Simms-Golo, an Executive Member of the Hayil Ladies Ministry, who presented the items, said the support package for the hospital, given on special occasions was initiated by Reverend Mrs Rosemond Anaba, the Vice President of the Eastwood Anaba Ministries (EAM).

She said it was the desire of the group to see sick children receive proper medical care in a comfortable environment, “that is the driving force for the gesture, it is a ritual and a passion of Mrs Rosemond Anaba.”

“It is obvious that we are attracted to the Children and Maternity wards, and that is because we are mothers and we think is a duty on us to perform what is needful on this occasion of Mother’s Day.”

Receiving the items on behalf of the management of the facility, Mr Mark Anthony Azongo, the Head of the Paediatric Department thanked members of the Ministry for the support and called for more of such donations for the Department in the present era of COVID-19.

He called on the public to adhere strictly to the Ghana Health Service protocols on the prevention of the virus.

The Paediatric Department over the years relied on one tabletop refrigerator for storage of drugs after a double-decker refrigerator donated by the Bolgatanga branch of Barclays Bank Limited over six years ago broke down.

Some staff of the Paediatric Department described the donation, especially the refrigerator as timely.
