Accra, May 8, GNA – GOIL Company Limited has donated COVID-19 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the Police Hospital to assist the health institution and frontline staff in the fight against the novel coronavirus.
The items, worth GH¢50,000.00, include medical scrubs, face masks, bed sheets, Veronica buckets, Liquid soap, tissue paper, hand sanitizers and gloves.
Mr Kwame Osei Prempeh, GOIL Group Chief Executive Officer, who presented the items, said GOIL had already donated similar items to other institutions like the 37 Military Hospital, Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, and the Ashiaman Polyclinic.
Others were the Ghana Private Road Transport Union and the National COVID-19 Trust Fund.
Mr Osei Prempeh said GOIL, the foremost indigenous Oil Marketing Company in Ghana, would continue to play its role as an important partner in the fight against the spread of the virus as part of its corporate social responsibility.
He assured the Police Administration and other security agencies that GOIL would continue to carry out its mandate to ensure uninterrupted supply of fuel.
The Medical Director of the Police Hospital and Deputy Commissioner of Police, Dr Mrs Marian Korboe, received the items and expressed gratitude to GOIL for the kind gesture.
She said the donation would help address the COVID-19 by protecting frontline staff to deliver effective services to the people.
Dr Korboe recalled GOIL’s assistance last year of the rehabilitation of the Executive Ward of the Hospital and commended it for its continued assistance.
