Ghana’s total confirmed cases of COVID-19 now 5,408

Accra, May 13, GNA – Ghana’s total COVID-19 total case count has increased by 127 to 5,408 cases, the Ghana Health Service said on Wednesday.

There have also been 20 new recoveries, bringing the total number to 514 from 494, in the last update on May 11, 2020.

The GHS also announced two more deaths, increasing the total COVID-19 related mortality to 24.

In its update on the designated website on the pandemic, the GHS, however, said a total of 4,865 persons were responding to treatment either in their homes, isolation centres or in treatment facilities.

But five others are critically ill, while the total national positivity rate is 3.29 per cent.

The regional count still shows the Greater Accra leading with 4,147 cases; followed by Ashanti-726; Central-192; Eastern -9; Western – 61 and the Western North-56.

The rest are the Volta -34; Upper East-26; Oti-24; Upper West-21; Northern-19; North East-two; with the Bono Region still having one case.

Meanwhile, three regions: Savannah, Bono East and Ahafo still have no confirmed cases.

The GHS has, however, advised citizens to strictly observe the preventive etiquettes, which include, “Staying at Home” unless it becomes very necessary to go out, the regular hand washing with soap under running water or with alcohol- based sanitiser, observing the cough and sneezing etiquette , social distancing and the wearing of face masks.
