Ghana records 2,097 recoveries out of 6,964 COVID-19 cases

Accra, May 26, GNA – Ghana has recorded 27 new recoveries bringing the total number to 2,097 out of 6,964 COVID-19 positive cases with 15 in critical condition and 32 deaths.

Dr Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, the Director General of the Ghana Health Service, at media briefing in Accra on Tuesday, said 156 new cases were recorded and that much fewer cases were being recorded as indicated by the new trend.

The new cases were identified in five out of the 16 regions; Greater Accra recorded 72; Western – 57; Central – 13; Volta – 10, and Ashanti – four.

Dr Kuma-Aboagye noted that the country was likely to record a lot more recoveries as they ramped up testing on persons who had recovered.

He said 800 people are in isolation across the country.

“About half or more than half of this number are in Accra; the rest at The Pentecost Convention Centre, and in various centres in Ashanti and some in hotels in the other regions,” Dr Kuma-Aboagye said.

The regional statistics are: Greater Accra – 4,908, Ashanti – 1,066, Western – 334, Central-319, Eastern -106, Western North-62, Volta- 57, and Northern – 36.

The rest are Oti – 26, Upper East – 26, Upper West – 21, North East -two, Savannah – one, Bono – one, with Ahafo and Bono East zero.
