Ghana confirms 183 new covid-19 cases

Accra, May 19, GNA – Ghana has confirmed 183 new cases of the Covid-19 in six regions, bringing the total case count to 5,918, the Ghana Health Service (GHS) has said.

Two more deaths have also been recorded within the last 48 hours, bringing the death tally to 31; while the recoveries remain at 1,754 since the last update.

The active cases of the viral disease now stand at 4,133.

The GHS said five patients were critically ill, however, they were not on ventilators, while the remaining patients were responding to treatment.

The Greater Accra Region remains the epicentre of the disease, accounting for 4,422 of the total case count; while Ashanti Region follows with 881 cases.

The Central Region has 212 cases; Eastern – 100 cases and Western – 98 cases.

Other regions with confirmed cases are: Western North-57; Volta – 41; Northern – 31; Oti – 26; and Upper East- 26.

The rest are Upper West – 21 cases; while North East and Bono regions have two and one cases, respectively.

Savannah, Ahafo and the Bono East still remain the regions with no confirmed cases of the new virus.
