Accra, May 7, GNA – The Bono Region has recorded its first positive case of the novel Coronavirus disease, bringing the number of total regions with cases to 13, the Ghana Health Service (GHS) has said.
The case was detected in the Jaman North District, Dr Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, the Director-General of the GHS announced in his update on the disease at a media briefing, organised by the Ministry of Information.
This leaves only three regions – Savannah, Ahafo and Bono East, with no confirmed cases.
Ghana on May 7, confirmed 372 new cases of the virus, bringing the country’s total case count to 3,091.
It also recorded an increase in recoveries – from the Monday, May 4 update of 294 to 303, whiles its death toll, however, remained 18.
This, therefore, leaves the country with 2,770 active cases.
Out of the total case count, the Greater Accra Region, the epicenter of the virus in Ghana, has so far recorded 2,579 with the Ashanti Region following with 165 cases.
Eastern Region has also recorded 95 cases, followed by the Western North with 56 cases, and the Central Region with 50 cases.
The others are: Western – 32, Volta – 30, Upper East – 26, Oti – 23, Upper West – 19, Northern – 13 and North East – 2.
A total of 137,924 individuals have so far been tested nationwide for the virus.
Ghana recorded her first two cases on Thursday, March 12.
