Al-Mannan Charity Foundation fetes 80 orphans to mark Eid-ul-Fitr

Kumasi, May 27, GNA – Al-Mannan Charity Foundation, a humanitarian organization based in Kumasi has provided food items and clothes to 80 orphans drawn from the Ashanti Region to commemorate this year’s Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations.

The gesture which is an annual event organized by the foundation was aimed at putting smiles on the faces of orphans during Eid-ul-Adha and Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations to fill the void created by the demise of their parents.

Each of the children walked away with a package comprising five-kilogramme bag of rice, cooking oil, a tin of tomato paste, mackerels, sardines, and a live poultry bird.

Mr. Abdul-Mannan Ibrahim, the Executive Director of the Foundation, said it was established to mobilize resources to support the needy, vulnerable, and marginalized in society.

He said though the foundation was involved in various humanitarian projects, its main focus was to raise funds to cater for medical bills of poor people with serious medical conditions that required huge financial obligations.

The motivation to set up the Foundation, he said, was derived from hardship he went through as a child after losing his mother at a tender age.

“I lost my mother when I was about two years and I had to quit school as a child due to financial challenges and engage in all sorts of menial jobs to survive”, he recounted his harrowing childhood experience.

He said but for the benevolence of a man who voluntarily sponsored him to learn aluminum fabrication, his life would have been miserable.

“That is why I am always passionate about helping people who are genuinely in need especially orphans”, he stated.

He entreated the public, especially Muslims to always extend helping hands to orphans and the poor during such festive seasons.
