Veep wishes Chief Imam long life on his 101st birthday

Accra, April 23, GNA – Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia on Thursday paid a surprise visit to the residence of the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Dr Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, on the occasion of his 101st Birthday.

Dr Bawumia wished him good health and long life for the nation to continue to profit from his fountain of wisdom.

The National Chief Imam is recognised as one of the iconic religious leaders in the country, having endeared himself to both followers of Islamic and Christian faiths.

Sheikh Osman Sharubutu made headlines last year during his 100th Birthday when he made a surprise visit to the Christ the King Catholic Parish.

The gesture was acclaimed worldwide by religious and political leaders as exemplary, and underlined the need for all followers of religious faiths to respect one another and live in peace and harmony.

Vice President Bawumia later joined the Chief Imam to cut his 101st Birthday Cake.
