Trauma Hospital receives support from Rotary Club Winneba

Winneba (C/R), April 18, GNA – The Winneba Chapter of the Rotary Club has presented Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and related items worth GH¢ 8,000.00 to the Trauma and Specialist Hospital at Winneba to support the facility to fight the COVID-19 Pandemic.

They include Hand Sanitizers, N95 masks, surgical gloves, overalls, safety goggles, Veronica buckets, paper towels, liquid soaps and face masks.

Mr. Ephraim Kwame-Aidoo, President of the Club who made the presentation at a ceremony at the Hospital said the donation was in response to a request made by the authorities of the hospital.

It was in line with the Club’s six core areas of focus, which include, disease prevention and control, water and sanitation and maternal health.

He said, Rotary, an international service organization to bring together business and professional leaders to render humanitarian services, also advanced goodwill and peace around the world,

The Club, therefore, mobilized funds from Individual Rotarians, Friends and Family to acquire the donation as its widows might to stop the spread of COVID-19, he added.

Dr. Gifty Appiah-Agyei, Public Relations Officer of the Chapter, encouraged people to comply with the directives to protect themselves and others.

“Let us Stay at home, for the disease is real and deadly”, she advised.

Dr. George Kwame Prah, Director of the Hospital who received the items thanked the donors for the gesture and added that it came at the right time and will go a long way to help protect them in the execution of their duties.

He called on other philanthropists and NGOs to extend a helping hand to frontline workers as they worked to combat the COVID-19.
