Effiduase (Ash), April 03, GNA – The Sekyere East District Directorate of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), has instituted a number of measures at its secretariat to protect both staff and clients.
As first step, the scheme has provided Veronica buckets with soap and hand sanitizers at the frontage of the premises for use by staff and clients who visited the facility.
Mr David Ampem-Darko, District Manager, told the Ghana News Agency in an interview at Effiduase that, the measures were in response to government’s precautionary and preventive protocols against the spread of the coronavirus disease.
He said as part of efforts to reduce the number of clients who visited the premises and also adhere to the social distancing directives, the scheme was prioritizing the registration of children under five years, pregnant women, persons above 70 years and those from vulnerable households as a strategic operational process in this period of covid-19.
Mr Ampem-Darko, said it was the responsibility of the scheme to support government to prevent the spread of the virus in the country.
“As one of the state’s functional public service provider in constant engagement with the public, it is crucial and necessary to provide the requisite safe environment for business operations and service delivery.
Each day, numerous persons from all the communities visit our office to access our services and it is necessary to observe the social distancing protocols in order to keep our visitors and customers and our staff safe and protected from the spread of the disease”, He pointed out.
Mr Ampem-Darko, said most of the staff had proceeded on mandatory leave as part of measures to protect them against the disease.
