SDA Church donates to Takoradi Angel Memorial Adventist Hospital

Takoradi, April 30, GNA – The South West Ghana Conference of the Seventh Day Adventist Church has donated items worth GH¢ 70, 000 in support of the fight against the spread of COVID-19 pandemic in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis.

The items included, 70 pieces of nose masks, 15 packs of T/Roll, 10 pack of tissue paper, 10 gallons of liquid soup, three gallons of parazone and hand sanitizers to the Angel Memorial Adventist Hospital in Takoradi to stop the spread of the deadly pandemic.

Mr. Yaw Kwakye Adeefe, President of the South West Ghana Conference said the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Ghana had donated GH¢ 100,000 cash to the COVID-19 National Trust Fund and was still expecting Ghc40,000 worth of Personal Protective Equipment from China.

The President of SWGC said, it was in this regard that the South West Ghana Conference saw it prudent to donate to Angel Memorial Adventist hospital, which he said was the only Adventist hospital in the region in order to protect its frontline workers.

He hinted that the donation was done in collaboration with the Women’s Ministry Department of the SWGC.

Mr Adeefe said the COVID 19 was real and life threatening and urged all to contribute their quota to help stem the spread of the pandemic.

He stressed that the only way to stem the spread of COVID-19, was for individuals to adhere strictly to the directives and protocols given by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the government.

“I believe in God, but in the wake of this global pandemic, we need to all observe the protocols given by WHO and the President of Ghana.”

The President of SWGC called on the church members to use the trying times in the COVID-19 pandemic to draw more closer to God by praying regularly and doing what was right to protect them from the deadly disease.

Dr Kwame Boakye Acheampong, Acting Medical superintendent in charge of the hospital, in receiving the items commended the President of SWGC and Women’s Ministry for the kind gesture, and pledged to make judicious use of the items to stop the spread of COVID-19.

He said the donation of the items was timely and called on individuals, philanthropists and organizations to give the same support to the hospital and other hospitals in the region to stop COVID-19.
