Accra, April 27, GNA – The Forum for National Equity, human rights non-governmental organisation, has commended President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for taking bold steps in ensuring social and economic equity amidst the coronavirus pandemic.
“We are particularly happy for the holistic approach, he has taken on the health care system by attempting to equally distribute health care facilities throughout the country,” it said.
President of the Forum Mr. Prince Bagnaba Mba, in a statement copied to the Ghana News Agency, described the proposed construction of 88 district hospitals throughout the country within a year as a major milestone and the most pragmatic approach to social and economic equity.
“We are encouraged that these hospitals will be of the highest quality with 100-bed accommodations and will be a remarkable addition to the health care system, “the statement said.
The Forum said it believed the welfare of man was good health and good education and that the government’s ability to provide necessities would propel the country as a great leader in the sub-continent.
“We are impressed by the geographical spread, which covers the whole country thereby bringing governance to the doorsteps of all Ghanaians everywhere,” the statement said.
It said Coronavirus, dangerous as it may look, had gingered Ghanaians and the entire world into thinking for the best possible solutions.
The Forum called on Ghanaians to respect all the directives issued by the President and the Ghana Health Service.
The directives include; regular handwashing with soap under running water, use of hand Sanitizers, use of face masks, and observation of social distancing.
These practices, the Forum said, “are not anything that is beyond any Ghanaian, so let us do that to save lives.”
