Ho, April 22, GNA – Melcom, a leading retail outlets in Ghana, is to roll out strict precautionary measures towards mitigating the spread of the coronavirus at its shopping centres.
Mr Bernard Somuah, Ho Branch Manager, said management of the Company had resolved to implement the measures in all branches, and that infrared gun thermometers would be deployed to screen all staff and customers before entry.
The Manager said this when Mrs Sybil Boison, Volta Regional Environmental Health Officer met with staff and management of the Company as part of a tour of major facilities to assess the implementation of preventive protocols against the spread of the virus.
Mr Somuah said staff and customer numbers would be minimised to about 12 to 15 persons per floor, and would continue to ensure all visitors washed and sanitised their hands upon arrival at their premises.
He assured staff that the Company would soon take delivery of more personal protective equipment for use, and implored them to help prevent any possible spread of the disease.
“We really have to take good care of ourselves. Let’s help ourselves and prevent the disease from spreading,” he said.
Mrs Boison sensitised staff on the severity of the coronavirus and the associated risks, and asked them to endeavour to protect themselves and customers.
She stressed on the need to enforce the social distancing rules, and asked management to ensure that frequently used surfaces including door handles and banisters were cleaned promptly.
Mrs Boison said her Office would inspect all malls and eateries for compliance, and would prepare some jingles to help keep customers on their guard against the virus.
