Accra, April 28, GNA – Max International Ghana, producers of wellness and weight-loss supplement and products, on Tuesday, presented some Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) and other items to the Ga East Municipal Hospital at Kwabenya.
The items, which included non-specified quantities of surgical masks, N-95 Masks, hand gloves, overall coats, sanitizes and packs of bottled water, were to support the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mrs Miriam Mahama, the Assistant General Manager of Max International Ghana, who made the presentation, said it was part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility.
She said the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic required the support of all entities in mobilising the needed resources internally, to address the huge health sector needs and particularly to protect frontline health workers from getting infected.
Mrs Mahama said the company has been operating in Ghana since March 2014 and currently has offices in Accra, Kumasi, Tamale, Sunyani, Takoradi, Cape Coast and Ho in the Volta Region.
She urged the public to support the efforts of the Government to win the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, by playing their own parts, and adhering to all the safety and hygiene protocols.
Dr Ebenezer Oduro Mensah, the Medical Suprintendent of the Ga East Municipal Hospital’s COVID-19 Treatment Centre, who received the items, thanked the company for their benevolence.
He said PPEs more than ever, have become critical aspects of ensuring safety in the healthcare delivery system, hence the need for both the Government and all stakeholders to ensure that these items were made readily available to especially those at the frontline to prevent the spread of infections.
Dr Oduro Mensah urged the public to help to reduce the work load on health workers by responding to the numerous calls for regular handwashing with soap under running water or use of alcohol-based sanitisers, as well observing the social distancing measures at all levels among other things.
He said COVID-19 was real and could only be defeated through these unified strategies.
