Manhyia Palace sets committee to investigate Kotoko woes

Accra, April 22, GNA – The Manhyia Palace has set up a committee to investigate circumstances surrounding the imposition of a $240,000 fine imposed on the club by the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA).

FIFA early this month imposed a $240,000 on Kotoko following the transfer and registration of Emmanuel Clottey, who was still a player of Tunisian giants Esperance.

A statement released by Mr. Kofi Badu, Chief of Staff of Manhyia Palace said the palace was deeply concerned about the unedifying attacks upon officers of the club, which was undermining the integrity of the club and bringing it into disrepute.

The statement said the Committee has been given four weeks to complete its investigation on the dealings between Esperance and Kotoko over the past years as well as investigating Kotoko’s failure in meeting the Premier League license.

“The Manhyia Palace calls for the immediate cessation of all media hostilities as it takes steps to deal with issues confronting the club.

“Supporters and concerned patrons are assured that action is being taken to meet the obligation of the club and there is no danger of Asante Kotoko SC being allowed to suffer any consequential damages.

The statement also said a three-year report of Dr. Kwame Kyei administration is currently been evaluated by His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene who eventually decide the direction of the club in the near future.

The statement also appealed to the Kotoko family to put all disagreements aside and unite behind the club.
