Sekondi, April 28, GNA – The Chief Executive Officer (C.E.O) of Justmoh Construction Limited, Mr Justice Amoh, has donated items worth GH¢95,370.00 to 120 selected widows in the Sekondi Diocese of the Methodist Church.
The items expected to be distributed to the widows in some church societies in the Sekondi Diocese, included bags of rice, cooking oil, rubbing alcohol, hand sanitizer, liquid soap, multipurpose paper towel and cash.
Presenting the items, Mr. Amoh indicated that in the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, it was obvious that life was not easy for most people as businesses have retrogressed.
He explained that “when God blesses you it is ideal to extend a helping hand to others hence his desire to reach out to the vulnerable in the society”.
He noted that if church service was in session, the poor fund offering would have been collected to cater for the needs of the poor, but since that was not possible in this moment due to the COVID19, he decided to assist the church and the widows by providing the items, adding that, the items were his contribution towards the fight against COVID-19.
Mr. Amoh pointed out that, in as much as people were expected to observe safety protocols such as staying at home, it was undisputable that people would have to feed whiles at home hence the provision of the relief items.
He indicated that each widow was expected to receive five bags of 5kg rice, a five litre gallon of cooking oil, a gallon of rubbing alcohol, a gallon of hand sanitizer, two rolls of multipurpose paper towel and a cash of GH¢200.00.
“As a Christian, the bible teaches us to extend a helping hand to those who lack and I believe it is for times like this that God blessed me so that I can also bless others,” he said.
Right Reverend Daniel De-graft Brace, Bishop of the Diocese, in receiving the items on behalf of the widows and the Diocese, thanked Mr Amoh for his benevolence and for having his fellow believers in mind in these difficult times.
He asked for the blessings of God upon Mr Amoh’s life and business, and urged members of the church to also pray for him as they received the items.
Rt. Rev. De-graft Brace noted with concern that the COVID- 19 had claimed the lives of millions globally and there was the need for Christians to be each other’s keeper.
He therefore urged the authorities to continue to hammer on the importance of practicing all safety and hygienic measures rolled out by the World Health Organization in order to limit the spread of the virus.
He said the church would continue to encourage washing of hands even after the end of the pandemic, since the veronica buckets would be placed at all entrances of the church building.
The Bishop of the Diocese, appealed to the ministers in charge of the various societies in the Church to explain to the their members and widows how real and life threatening COVID-19 was, and urged them to adhere to the preventive protocols in order to stay safe.
