Jealous seamstress remanded into custody for causing harm

Nkawie, (Ash), April 02, GNA – A jealous seamstress, who attacked her rival and beat her mercilessly at Wioso, has been remanded into police custody by the Nkawie circuit court.

Christiana Oppong 30, is said to have assaulted and threatened to kill Monica Ayamba, a student nurse, for trying to snatch her boyfriend at Wioso, near Nkawie in the Atwima-Nwabiagya South Municipality.

She pleaded guilty to assault and not guilty to causing harm and threat of life and would reappear before the court on April 10, this year.

Police Inspector Ruth Gborson told the court presided over by Mr Michael Johnson Abbey that the accused and the complainant are in a relation with the same man at Wioso.

She said on March 09, this year at about 1300 hours, the complainant was having a conversation with her friends at a spot near the accused’s shop.

Inspector Gborson said without any provocation, the accused attacked and beat the complainant mercilessly, causing harm to her body and damage to some items she was holding at the time.

The accused also threatened to kill the complainant.

The prosecution said a report was made to the police and the accused was arrested and after interrogation, charged with the offence and brought before the court.
