Accra, April 18, GNA – Gold Coast Matcom LTD, a food and beverage company, has donated food items worth GH¢ 35,000 to the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection to support government efforts in feeding the needy during the lockdown.
The items donated include; 1,409 packs of Dimes fruit juice, 60 jars of Nutella Chocolate and Hazelnut spread, 7,200 pots of Pascual dessert, 240kgs Lesieur Mayonnaise and 5,040 packs of Bifa Chocolate bars.
Mr Michael Sorsey, the Marketing Manager, presenting the items on behalf of the Company commended government’s efforts at preventing and controlling the spread of COVID-19, while ensuring the safety of Ghanaians.
He said the nutritious food products donated would help keep the vulnerable healthy during the lockdown.
“We appeal to Ghanaians to continue to support the national effort, stay safe and defeat the COVID-19 pandemic,” he said.
Mr Sorsey expressed appreciations to health workers and other public servants for supporting the nation in times like this.
Mrs Cynthia Maamle Morrison, the Minister of of Gender, Children and Social Protection, commended the company for the support.
She said the donation came at an opportune time as they were making preparations to also donate to Children homes and orphanages.
The Minister said government was doing everything possible to ensure the needy and cater for and expressed gratitude to the private partners for their contributions to make the exercise a successful one.
She indicated that government had challenges regarding food distribution and social distancing due to culture of Ghanaians, but added that with continuous education, people would appreciate it more.
