Church of Pentecost supports COVID-19 fight in Effiduase

Effiduase (Ash), April 23, GNA – The Sekyere East District of the Church of Pentecost (COP) has donated quantities of protective items to the Effiduase Government Hospital.

The items, which included Veronica buckets, boxes of alcohol-based hand sanitizers, tissues and detergents are to help protect the health workers and other front line staff in the fight against the spread of the COVID-19 in the area.

Reverend Alexander Kofi Mireku, District Pastor of the church, who made the presentation said the gesture was a collaborative efforts of the Seniagya, Daaman, Asokore and Effiduase branches, which formed the administrative district of the church.

It was also the contribution of members of the church towards the fight against the spread of the virus in the country.

Rev. Mireku said health workers needed protection and assurance of safety environment to motivate them to discharge their duties effectively.

“We appreciate the efforts of government in its measures and contributions to help control the disease and we believe we have a direct shared responsibility in this fight against the disease”, the Reverend Minister said.

Dr. David Antwi Adjei, Medical Director of the hospital commended the church for the gesture and said it would help motivate the staff to work to contain the spread of the disease in the area.

He called on other organizations and individuals to come to the aid of the hospital by providing required protective items in order to protect the workers, patients and other people who visited the facility.
