Chamba Professional Forum distributes food to vulnerable and needy families

Accra, April 28, GNA – The Chamba Professionals Forum (CPF), a Civil Society Organization, has distributed food items to some vulnerable families in ten communities.

The food items included rice, oil, sugar, beverages and cereals.

The beneficiary communities are Nima, Mamobi, Ashale Botwe, Nima 441, Shukura, Kasoa, Madina, Accra
Newtown and Chamba in the Nanumba North District of the Northern Region.

The distribution was preceded by a launch of a Welfare Support and Food Package Program (WSFPP) of the CPF.

The WSFPP of the CPF is a social safety programme roll-out to give continuous support to vulnerable families who are in need in hard times such as during the COVID-19 lockdown and restrictions on movement of people.

Presenting the items, the Vice Chairman, Mr Abdul Fattah Muhammad Awal, speaking on behalf of the Chairman of CPF, Dr Abas Mohammed Umar, a Senior Lecturer at the University of Ghana at Department of Modern Languages, said the CPF considers it a duty to launch a social safety net programme geared towards the vulnerable in our communities to maintain an acceptable standard of living.

He said the selection of beneficiaries identified and targeted people including widows, disabled, blind, orphans, aged, single mothers and other disadvantaged families whose means of livelihood have been temporarily crippled, irrespective of their religious background.

He acknowledged the positive attitude of all members of CPF for their invaluable contributions that made the program a successful one.

Madam Musliyatu Alhassan, a resident of Nima 441, on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanked the Forum for their kind gesture and prayed for the members.

The CPF was set up by Chamba Professionals and Intellectuals both in Ghana and abroad with the focus on research and advocacy for the development of Chamba in the Nanumba North District of the Northern Region and beyond.
