Ashaiman, April 28, GNA – The Ashiaman Women in Progressive Development (AWPD) has donated sanitary items to three institutions in Mantseman Electoral Area in the Ashaiman Municipality.
The items which included sanitizers, Veronica buckets, tissue rolls, and handwashing stands, were to help in the fight against the spread of COVID-19 in the area.
Madam Evelyn Aikains, founder of AWPD and former Assemblymember for the area, said the beneficiaries; Ashaiman Lebanon North Police station, Jericho Health Center, and Nyame Bekyere Health Clinic, were homes to frontline workers in the fight against the virus and must, therefore, be supported.
Madam Aikains commended the Police and the health officials for their dedication and encouraged them to do more to ensure the safety of the area and good health of the people in the area.
Chief Inspector Fraser Bokaro receiving the items on behalf of the Police Station, thanked the group for the support, adding that even though, their contact with people was now limited due to the lifting of the partial lockdown, they still had residents visiting the station, therefore, the items came in handy.
Madam Abigail Annan, Senior Physician Assistant, Jericho Health Centre, on her part expressed gratitude for the gesture.
Madam Annan reiterated the need for residents to practice proper handwashing under running water, wearing of a nose mask and the other protocols, saying people who were not feeling well must seek help from health officials by calling the available numbers instead of self-medicating.
She appealed for Personal Protection Equipment since they had received just a few from the District Health Directorate.
Madam Comfort Agbemafo, owner of Nyame Bekyere Clinic, appealed to the National Health Insurance Scheme to promptly reimburse them for them to function as they should.
The NHIS had paid only five months out of 12 months of accumulated debt.
