AOB presents 650 dual desks to education directorate

Breman Asikuma (C/R), April 15, GNA – The Asikuma Odoben Brakwa (AOB) District Assembly has presented 650 dual desks to the District’s directorate of Ghana Education Service (GES) for distribution to 15 public schools to help bridge furniture deficit in the area.
The donation brings to 1,000 dual desks presented to schools by the District Assembly struggling to meet over 3000 furniture deficit in schools in the district.

The beneficiary schools include Brakwa Eshiem D/A, Brakwa Islamic B, Towoboase D/A, Brakwa D/A, Fankyenko D/A, Asikuma Catholic Boys and Fosuansa Methodist basic Schools.
The rest are Kuntsenase Presby, Nankese D/A, Anhwiam D/A, Asikuma Presby, Asuoko D/A, Afofosu Presby and Boame Nkwanta.

At a ceremony to present the items, Mr Isaac Odoom, the District Chief Executive (DCE) said the donation would bridge the district’s furniture shortfall of more than 3000, which the Assembly was determined to resolve.

That was an integral of the Assembly’s vision to improve the quality of education, teaching and learning to ensure that all pupils sat on decent and comfortable seats.

He further advised the various school authorities to contribute their quota to raise the academic standard in the district by paying critical attention to nurturing the talents of the school children.

Receiving the desks, Madam Sabina Otoo, the District Director of Education, said the presentation had come at an opportune time when schools were faced with many challenges including inadequate furniture hampering academic work.

However, she was glad the presentation will significantly provide a conducive learning environment and aid good teaching and learning in beneficiary schools.

She thanked the Assembly for the “tremendous contribution” to improving quality education in the district and appealed to the Assembly to urgently speed up its promise of bridging the furniture deficit.

She pledged to strictly monitor schools to ensure that the furniture were well maintained to serve the intended purpose.
